(VOVworld) – After the success of the August Revolution in 1945, President Ho Chi Minh converted and persuaded a large number of intellectuals and talented people who had served the old regime, including the abdicated Emperor Bao Dai, to work for the revolutionary government. It demonstrated his sense of humanity, his ideology of great unity and his keenness to make use of human resources. President Ho Chi Minh is successful example of making use of intellectuals

After the August Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam published a document entitled “Looking for Talented People” in Cuu Quoc (National Salvation) newspaper.

Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Quoc Bao, former Head of Faculty of Ho Chi Minh Thought at the Academy of Journalism and Communications said: “The new government recruited people from within Viet Minh (Vietnam Independence League) as well as renowned intellectuals from outside its ranks. President Ho Chi Minh also invited Buddhist and Catholic dignitaries to work for the government. The National Assembly included Viet Minh representatives, representatives from the Vietnamese Nationalist Party and the Vietnam Revolutionary League and non-partisan representatives. President Ho Chi Minh appointed them to the posts of ministers and deputy ministers.”

Considering the intelligentsia the motive force behind the national revolutionary cause, President Ho Chi Minh undertook to train a new generation of intellectuals, to reeducate intellectuals who had served the old regime, and to improve the general intellectual level of the workers and peasants. Associate Professor, Teacher Le Mau Han said that President Ho Chi Minh’s farsightedness in selecting, training, and making use of intellectuals is a valuable lesson for Vietnam as it goes through the international integration process.

Mr. Han said: “It’s necessary to alter policies towards the intelligentsia such as improving working conditions and providing incentives for them to concentrate on their work. We should have regulations aimed at training and increasing the number of intellectuals in Vietnam because they play an important role in defending the nation’s sovereignty and building the market economy for a prosperous people and a strong country.”
