In Hanoi, preparations are in full swing for the main event on Saturday, where the theme “Each Page of a Book–A Pride” will set the tone for a series of creative and meaningful activities. These will include an exhibition showcasing the 1975 Great Spring Victory as told through the pages of history books. Authors, literary critics, and screenwriters will engage in lively discussions and exchanges, while children will tell stories through painting. Other highlights will include an interactive program called “Memory Book–Soldier’s Story,” a campaign called “Books–Clean–Green” promoting environment-friendly reading spaces and public reading sessions featuring stories of heroism and resilience.
In Dien Bien province, streets and schools will be filled with books, magazines, and newspapers on display. Book arrangements and cultural showcases will bring color and inspiration to the community. Many activities will be held to encourage reading and bring books to people in remote mountain and border areas, along with a book festival and contest called “Ambassador of Reading Culture.”
Tran Hai Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province, said: “Every year we donate books to remote communes in Dien Bien province to promote reading. It’s a vital source of information for those communities. Our mobile libraries also continue to bring books to remote areas.”
In Bac Giang province, models like Book and Action Clubs, and family, clan, and community bookcases have been expanded and talks on reading skills have been held. Organizations and local communities have called on locals to join book-reading competitions and share their favorite books. Dramatized storytelling contests, book-making workshops, art book displays, children's book-themed drawing competitions, as well as seminars, discussions, themed talks, and online reading sessions have been organized.
Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 celebrates the enduring value of books while fostering learning and cultivating a learning society.
