Youth brass bands celebrate 50 years of national liberation

(VOVWORLD) - In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, youth brass bands in Ho Chi Minh City have delivered performances that captured the joy and heroism of that historic day.

The 45 members of the children’s brass band of Nguyen Binh Khiem school in Ho Chi Minh City participated in the Young Pioneer Organization’s Brass Band Festival. Among their performances was the iconic song Marching to Saigon”, featuring the well-known line “Saigon, we have returned!”—a powerful expression of the triumphant spirit of victory day.

Student Vo Hai Yen said: When we heard the melody of Marching to Saigon, we instantly loved it. Everyone in the band was eager and thrilled to play it.

Teacher Pho The Minh, Deputy Head of the HCM Young Volunteer Organization  at Nguyen Binh Khiem school, said: These performances help the children develop a love of music and an appreciation of its beauty.”

A program called “Drum and Trumpet Art Performance”, also held in Ho Chi Minh City, featured 5,000 performers from children’s palaces and youth centers nationwide. Together they created a colorful and meaningful musical mosaic to honor the liberation of the south and national reunification.

A drum and trumpet performance called “Joy embraces the nation whole,” was held last Saturday, connecting HCM City with 62 provinces and cities and 150  children’s places and centers nationwide. More than 10,000 young members of the HCM Young Pioneer Organization’s ceremonial teams took part, creating a joyful, spirited atmosphere and spreading the pride of Vietnamese youth on this significant day of national unity.
