(VOVworld) – 100 outstanding individuals who have made great contributions to the nationwide blood drive were honored at a ceremony in Hanoi on Friday, as part of activities to mark the World Blood Donor Day, June 14.

Nguyen Anh Tri is director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion: "Persuading people to donate blood is not an easy job as it takes a lot of effort to get people to see the importance of giving blood. It’s essential to frequently acknowledge and honor role models in blood donation. This encourages others to donate their blood to the campaign."

Hanoi will host a blood donation festival themed “Compassionate summer” this Sunday.
