(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Farmers' Union (VFU) Congress on Tuesday elected 111 delegates to the 8th Central Committee of the VFU for the 2023-2028 tenure. 8 commissioners expected to be added in due course.

During Wednesday’s meeting, the Committee convened the first conference to elect 18 members of the Standing Committee, as well as a Chairman and 4 Vice Chairmen, were elected. Luong Quoc Doan, Chairman of the VFU’s 7th Committee, was re-elected as Chairman of the 8th term.
Doan said that in the upcoming period, the VFU’s Central Committee will concentrate on implementing programs and plans to achieve the goals set forth at the 8th National Congress. The focus will be on six groups of tasks and three breakthroughs, aiming to create a substantial impact on the work of the union and the farmers’ movement.
