(VOVworld) – Taliban fighters attacked four police checkpoints around the provincial capital of Lashkar Gah on Monday, killing 12 Afghan policemen and wounding another 11.

In another attack, 40 Taliban insurgents were killed by Afghan forces in Kunduz, the capital of Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan. Afghan forces warned that Taliban militants are hiding in civilian homes after an assault on Kunduz was repelled with the help of NATO air support. 4 soldiers were killed and 13 others wounded in a counterattack to retake parts of Kunduz from the Taliban.
