(VOVworld) - At least twelve people were killed and 34 others were injured in a triple suicide bombing in Tikrit on Saturday morning.

A suicide car bomb exploded at a checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city of Tikrit, 190 kilometres north of Baghdad, killing eight police and wounding 23, a security source reported. Another four police officers at the checkpoint were shot dead by a militant who was subsequently killed. This was the first such kind of attack in Tikrit since it was freed from the Islamic State in April, 2015.
