(VOVworld) - The 2012 Coconut Festival has opened in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.

 

Speaking at Thursday’s event, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan praised the organization of the festival and spoke of the importance of coconut trees to the Vietnamese people. She asked the province to continue growing coconut trees for export and ecological protection: "We need to boost coconut tree cultivation to aid  our economic development. And we must cooperate and share coconut growing experience with other countries to enhance economic efficiency".

Ben Tre’s coconut products are now available in 60 countries and territories.
