(VOVworld) - A 2012 summer youth volunteer program themed “Youth joining hands to build new rural areas”, will be launched this Sunday in Ha Tinh city. The program, which aims to promote the youth’s vanguard role in socio-economic development, focuses on building new rural areas, ensuring traffic safety and order, protecting the environment, and assisting rural high school graduates in university entrance examinations. Other activities to support the community include blood donations, social evil prevention, paying debts of gratitude, educational programs for young children and international volunteer activities. Nguyen Manh Dung, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, said: "Much attention has been given to international volunteer activities. This year we have organized many activities in cities and provinces bordering Laos and Cambodia to contribute to the success of Vietnam-Laos and Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012. There will be twin towns and provinces, where Vietnamese youth will help Youth Union organizations and people there.  

The 2012 summer youth volunteer program will provide Vietnamese youth opportunties to improve their social skills and experience, unite youth union members, and enhance the efficiency of Youth Union activities.
