(VOVworld) – The 2015 Spring Press Festival will open this weekend in Hanoi. It will highlight the development of the Vietnamese press over the past years, its contributions to Vietnam’s development and defense, and the sector’s future plans. 65 press agencies and associations will showcase their special editions to welcome the Lunar New Year festival.

Truong Minh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, told a press briefing on Monday: “The press sector had numerous achievements in 2014. Press agencies disseminated the Party guidelines and State policies to the people, especially the Government’s Resolution No. 01 on socio-economic development. They also helped to promote the Vietnamese culture to the public.”

The festival will include workshops on press and communications and art performances.
