(VOVworld) - The Ministry of Defense held a banquet in Hanoi on Tuesday to celebrate the 69^th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 24^th All-People’s National Defense Day which falls on December 22^nd. Addressing the event, Deputy Defense Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh thanked international friends for their past support for the Vietnam People’s Army. He highlighted contributions made by the diplomatic corps and foreign military attaches in Vietnam to promote the friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnamese Defense Ministry and the Vietnam People’s Army and defense ministries and armies in other countries. Vinh expressed his hope that the collaboration will improve peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Later the same day, Le Thanh Hai, the Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, held a reception for more than 400 military persons including retired generals living in the city. Participants reviewed the proud history and traditions of the Vietnamese People’s Army, evoking national pride and patriotism.
