In his speech, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted significance outcomes of cooperation between the two countries, especially in economics, trade, tourism, customs, transportation and the promotion of the economic corridor. Prime Minister Dung said that these achievements had helped member countries strengthen international integration and contributed to narrowing development gaps between ASEAN members as well as the establishment of the ASEAN Community by the end of the year. Prime Minister Dung said:“We need to turn transportation corridors into economic corridors by creating favorable policies for cross-border transportation and trade. We need to seriously implement the Mekong cross-border transport facilitation agreement and bilateral and multilateral agreements. We need to accelerate the ASEAN’s one-door customs mechanism, work out incentives for the development of logistics along the economic corridor and facilitate regional enterprises to participate in investment projects. To this end, our four countries need to increase cooperation in ensuring security and order, anti-crime and create a favorable investment environment”.
The participants adopted the Action Program on economics and trade in the near future and a Joint Statement of the Summit. They agreed to organize their 8th summit in Vietnam in 2016.
