ADB will provide Vietnam with a 50-million-USD loan to upgrade tourism infrastructure. |
(VOVworld) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Vietnam’s government signed a 50-million-USD loan agreement on Tuesday to upgrade Vietnam’s tourism infrastructure, increase tourism revenues, and create jobs for ethnic minorities at tourist sites. Addressing the signing ceremony, ADB Country Director in Vietnam Tomoyuki Kimura said tourism projects are effective ways to create jobs, improve working skills, and reduce poverty. He said one of this project’s goals is creating employment opportunities for the poor, ethnic minorities, and women. The project also aims to improve tourism competitiveness in 5 provinces of the Greater Mekong Sub-region economic corridor—Dien Bien, Ha Tinh, Kien Giang, Lao Cai, and Tay Ninh—benefiting some 30,000 people.
