(VOVworld) - A bloody attack on Shiite pilgrims in Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul on Tuesday killed 14 people and wounded 40 others.

Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry said militants suddenly attacked the Karte Sakhi shrine during the Shiite Ashura festival. One gunman was killed by Afghanistan security forces. Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani denounced the attack, calling it a crime against humanity. He promised that the Afghanistan government will take steps to ensure security for the Ashura holiday.
