Agriculture export faces stricter technical barriers
(VOVWORLD) - Agricultural exports will face new, stricter non-tariff barriers, as the international market increases its quality controls, particularly product origins, experts said at the Vietnam Food Forum 2019 in Ho Chi Minh city on Wednesday.
They said new free trade agreements have expanded the market but not for enterprises who fail to improve their product quality, build their trademark, or specify their products’ origin. Importing countries are paying more attention to production chains that protect the environment.
Nguyen Anh Duong, Head of the General Research Department of the Central Institute of Economic Management, at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, said: “More government supports is required for businesses affected by these technical barriers. The Government, ministries, and agencies need to work with experts to advise businesses on value chain and product standards like VietGAP and GlobalGAP.”
