(VOVworld) – The 23^rd ASEAN-EU Senior Officials’ Meeting has been held in Brussels, Belgium to review the bilateral partnership and discuss its future direction.

The meeting was co-chaired by Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ugo Astuto, Acting Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the European External Action Service. The participants agreed on the need to work out mechanisms to intensify  ASEAN-EU strategic partnership. They urged ASEAN and the EU to work together in maritime security, enhance cooperation on preventing trans-national crime and counter-terrorism, enhance connectivity in business, trade and investment, climate change, environment and disaster management. The EU affirmed their willingness to further cooperate with ASEAN and pledged to share its integration experience.
