(VOVworld) – A seminar on the ASEAN Integration Through Law Project opened in Hanoi on Tuesday. The event was co-organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Center for International Law at the National University of Singapore.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son said that ASEAN is always a priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy. Vietnam considers the establishment of a strong ASEAN Community an important factor in ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the region and raising ASEAN’s voice in the international arena. He said: “Vietnam’s firm policy is active and proactive international integration. Vietnam abides by the UN Charter, international law and the regional code of conduct. Vietnam supports the increased role of law in connecting and building an ASEAN Community. Vietnam was active in ASEAN Charter negotiations and has been enthusiastic in bringing it in life. Vietnam was one of the first ASEAN countries to ratify the ASEAN Charter after it was signed in 2007. Vietnam has been revising its legal system to conform to ASEAN’s regulations and practices.”
