Obama said NATO was at a "pivotal moment” in which it is facing a range of challenges all at once, security, humanitarian, and political issues. He cited the threat from the Islamic State, refugee crisis, and the Britain’ vote to leave the EU, which have stoked fears about the EU’s future.
President Obama pledged the commitment of the US to the security and defense of Europe while warned that NATO allies had to do their part too, especially devoting two percent of annual economic output to defense spending.
