The activities will include the inauguration of a culture and trade complex, a pottery exhibition, the opening of the Trang An ancient house, a tourism and culture fair, and folk art performances. Bat Trang is the only commune in Gia Lam district whose locals do handicrafts, trade and services, and tourism. It’s home to the famous Giang Cao and Bat Trang pottery villages.
Phung Thi Hoai Huong, head of the Gia Lam district culture and information department, said: "Bat Trang attracts domestic and foreign visitors with its ancient villages, houses, artisanal pottery works, folk festivals and cuisine. We have compiled a dossier to seek recognition of Bat Trang as a national intangible heritage site."
Bat Trang has welcomed about 200,000 visitors annually over the years, of which foreign visitors account for approximately 10%.
