Egyptian soldiers in Arish, North Sinai
(VOVworld) - A roadside bomb killed seven Egyptian soldiers and wounded four in the restive Sinai Peninsula on Sunday. A government survey released in March said at least 500 soldiers and policemen had been killed in attacks and bombings conducted by Islamic extremists. Those attacks were claimed by Ansar Beit al-Maqdis. The pro-Jerusalem militant group said the attacks were in retaliation for a government crackdown that had killed a number of Muslims. The group have announced that they support the self-proclaimed Islamic State but have not pledged their loyalty to the IS leader.
