(VOVworld) - Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday pledged support for Afghanistan's newly sworn-in president and the country's new unity government.

During a surprise visit to Kabul, Cameron that Britain is committed to helping Afghans build a more secure and prosperous future. Cameron was the first of world leaders to meet Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai since his inauguration on Monday. Speaking at a joint press conference in Kabul, President Ashraf Ghani asked Britain to support Afghanistan in assuring its security. Prime Minister Cameron said Afghanistan has made considerable progress over the past years adding that Britain pledged to help Afghanistan train its security forces as well as economic support.
