At a meeting on Thursday with the Hai Phong municipal Party Committee, the General Secretary urged the province to focus on strengthening both physical and digital infrastructure and promoting innovation and the application of technology across all sectors to create new growth momentum.
“Hai Phong should aim to unlock and harness all available social resources to accelerate modernization, and create a strong foundation to become a hub of education, healthcare, and science and technology in the northern coastal region. The city needs to shift its policy to support high-tech human resource training to foster the digital economy. Hai Phong needs to embrace smart urbanization and work towards becoming a model city in terms of experience and livability, while addressing obstacles to economic development and pursuing a sustainable economic restructuring.”
The General Secretary also emphasized the need for a well-defined strategy to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), promote technology transfer, and create favorable conditions for domestic businesses to thrive and integrate into international supply chains. The ultimate goal is to build a self-reliant, competitive, and globally integrated economy.
Earlier the same day, General Secretary To Lam attended a conference at the City Convention Center to grant Investment Registration Certificates to 12 new and expanded industrial park projects in Hai Phong for November 2024.
