(VOVworld) – Britain’s Brexit bill is facing a delay because several former Prime Ministers have criticized Theresa May’s government of peddling an “over-optimistic” view of Brexit and said it was “time to stop” the criticism of those who disagreed with her plans.

Speaking at the Chatham House thinktank, former Prime Minister John Major warned that the British people have been led to expect a future that seems to be unreal and over-optimistic. Major urged the May government to take a more emollient approach in negotiations with EU leaders to protect Britain’s interests.

The Brexit bill will go for voting at the House of Lords on Wednesday and next Tuesday. But it’s more likely that members of the House of Lords will request changes to the bill at Wednesday vote to protect the rights of more than 3 million EU nationals living in the UK. If their request is approved, the new bill will need approval of the House of Commons before it is submitted to the House of Lords once more time.
