23-year-old Krayem was charged on 9 April with “terrorist murders” in last month’s suicide blasts in the Belgian capital. The new charges reflect growing links discovered between the Brussels attackers and those who carried out November’s jihadi carnage in Paris. Osama Krayem, whose alias is Naim Al Ahmed, was met by Salah Abdeslam, a major suspect in the Paris attack, in Ulm, Germany. Krayem is suspected of buying the travel bags used in the Brussels bombings.
A series of terrorist attacks took place at Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station on March 22 in Brussels, killing 32 people and injuring 340. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
