(VOVworld) - California wishes to forge comprehensive links with Ho Chi Minh City on the basis of the expanding relations between Vietnam and the US.

California Governor Jerry Brown made the statement during a reception for Secretary of HCM City’s Party Committee Le Thanh Hai in Oakland on Wednesday.

Mr. Brown said the two sides should encourage businesses and the public to protect the environment, conserve natural resources, save energy, and promote climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Secretary Hai praised cooperation between HCM City and California on trade, investment, science, technology, education, and training.

He agreed to boost links in environmental protection, especially waste treatment, scenario development for climate change adaptation, and minimization of negative impacts of climate change on Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.
