(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien together with leaders of other ASEAN countries and their partners attended the 54th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting (AEM 54) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on Wednesday.

In his opening remarks, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said ASEAN is facing various challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, trade war, and climate change, which have pushed inflation up and affected global production.
He said that ASEAN should pay more attention to the rules-based trading system, globalisation principles, multilateral mechanism, free trade and investment in the region, as well as anti-protectionism issues, the enhancement of resilience of regional and global supply chains, logistics connection, digital economy building, environmental protection, clean energy, sustainable development, and food security.
This week there will be related meetings including the 4th Economic Ministers’ Meeting of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV), the 10th East Asia Economic Ministers’ Meeting, and the 1st Ministers’ Meeting of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
