At a working session Tuesday with visiting EU Ambassador to Vietnam Giorgio Aliberti and the ambassadors of several EU countries, Truong said the city is setting up a development fund until 2030 with a vision to 2045 to make Can Tho the economic, social, education, healthcare, logistics, and defense and security center of the Mekong Delta region.
Through specialized mechanisms to be promulgated in the future, Can Tho hopes to cooperate with the EU in farm produce processing and sales and digitally transforming agriculture, education, training, and healthcare.
Ambassador and Head of the EU delegation Aliberti said EU countries want to learn more about opportunities for economic, social, and agricultural investment cooperation with Can Tho city and other localities in the Mekong Delta region.
They are particularly interested, he said, in climate change response and renewable energy development projects in the region.
