(VOVworld) – Floods have killed 41 people with 5 missing and 74 injured in central and central highlands provinces. More than 1650 houses collapsed and tens of thousands of hectares of crops have been destroyed. Traffic in a number of low-lying and mountain areas remains paralyzed. Relief efforts have been underway to get support to people in the affected areas. Thousands of instant noodle packages and bottled water have been sent to the victims. A government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai visited the heavily inundated areas in An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province on Tuesday. An Nhon is one of the 10 most affected localities where 5 people have been killed. Deputy Prime Minister Hai inspected the eroded section of Thang Cong dyke and held a working session with Binh Dinh authorities on ways to recover from the flood’s aftermath.

13 people died in Quang Ngai province. Quang Nam province’s Red Cross Society has provided financial support to the 6 families of the victims and called for continued donations to support other flood victims. Le Viet Chu, Chairman of Quang Ngai provincial Fatherland Front, said: “We are using our reserve funds to support the people. We hope that businesses and other localities will join hands to share the burden of the affected people. We should provide them with enough food for at least 3 months and then help them resume production.”

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement on Tuesday presented 400 gift packages to people in the most affected areas of Quang Nam.
