Rival Libyan militias clashed south of Tripoli, raising fresh security concerns with the war-torn North African country. Prime Minister Abdel Rahim al-Kib's office said yesterday/ Sunday that a militia from the town of Gharyan, approximately 80 kilometers south of Tripoli, clashed with a rival armed group from the nearby town of Assabia, killing at least 2 people and injuring 50 others. Earlier, the rival groups exchanged fires, which only stopped on Saturday after Defense Minister Osama al-Juili rushed to the area. The Libyan interim government announced that Libya risks sliding into civil war unless it cracks down on the rival militias.
