(VOVworld) – The National Assembly’s Judicial Committee held a seminar to gather recommendations on the draft revision of the Criminal Code on Monday.
Chaired by NA Deputy Chairman Uong Chu Luu, the seminar discussed the removal of the death penalty for opportunistic crimes including embezzlement of public property and taking bribes. Most of the delegates suggested keeping the death penalty for these crimes.
The Criminal Code is being revised to match the 2013 Constitution, focusing on protecting human and civil rights, building a state-governed by law of the people, by the people, and for the people.
