The negotiation is aimed at ending a half century of military conflict in Columbia and is focused on compensation for the conflict’s victims. 60 of these victims took part in the negotiations to provide first-hand evidence.
The FARC has rejected the government’s proposal of a legal framework for the peace process because the group says it was the unilateral idea of the government. After 2 years of negotiations, the two sides have reached agreements on a rural development policy, drugs, and FARC’s participation in politics after a peace agreement is signed.
