(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health on Friday received 21 billion VND (over 900,000 USD) donated by enterprises to the ministry’s fund for purchasing COVID-19 vaccine.

At a ceremony on Friday, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long praised Thaiholdings JSC and the Lien Viet PostBank for their donation, saying that buying vaccine is one of the top priorities of the health sector so that people’s life can return to normal.
The minister said Vietnam is pushing the research and production of domestic vaccine and negotiating with partners to obtain more vaccine.
Last month, the Ministry of Health announced that it has approved the use of Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine, the first COVID-19 vaccine licensed by the ministry for immunization to prevent the pandemic. According to Minister Nguyen Thanh Long, Astra Zeneca pledged to supply about 30 million doses of vaccine to Vietnam in 2021.
