(VOVworld) - Countries around the globe are investigating possible crimes revealed by the Panama Papers.

On Tuesday, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka called on the Czech tax authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the activities of some 300 Czech citizens who are among those named in the Panama Papers. But Czech Minister of Finance Andrej Babis expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the Panama Papers and called for a cautious investigation of the information.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said Tuesday that he had no personal offshore funds and defended his record of tackling tax avoidance after the Panama Papers raised questions about his family's financial affairs. Cameron said he and his wife and children have no benefit from any offshore funds.

Canadian Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier has instructed Canada Revenue Agency officials to obtain the data leaked in the Panama Papers in order to cross-reference this information with data already obtained through the agency’s existing mechanisms.

Israeli tax authorities said on Tuesday that they are searching the mountain of leaked documents known as the Panama Papers, after media reports said 600 Israeli companies and two major Israeli banks were included. Under new Israeli laws, which seek to reduce tax evasion, violators face up to 10 years in prison.

The Ministry of Finance and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said they will carry out necessary checks in connection with the Panama Papers. If there is evidence of wrongdoing by any individual or entity in Singapore, the government will not hesitate to take firm action.
