(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s economic prospects for the rest of this year depend on how well it can contain the current COVID-19 outbreak, said the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR) on Wednesday.
VEPR’s macro-economic report for the second quarter said Vietnam recorded growth of 6.61%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the first half of this year was up 1.47% from the same period last year.
VEPR revised down its economic growth forecast for Vietnam this year, pointing out growth scenarios for Vietnam with economic growth rates varying from 3.5 to 6.1%. According to VEPR, Vietnam’s economic outlook depends on how well it adheres to safety precautions, realizes its vaccination rollout, and delivers its stimulus packages.
