Doan Hai Dang, Director of the Da Nang branch of travel firm Vietravel, said the fight against the epidemic should go hand in hand with efforts to promote the city as a safe destination.

“We have launched a campaign with the message and hastag ‘I’m safe, Da Nang is safe, and We’re safe’ evidenced by interviews with service providers and visitors. That’s the best way to prove Da Nang’s safety,” said Mr. Dang.

The Vietnam Tourism Association has formed a national alliance to spur tourism with its first members being Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Binh Dinh, and Phu Yen provinces which have remained immune from coronavirus. Cao Tri Dung, President of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said top priority will be given to domestic travelers before a longer-term and more comprehensive stimulus program is adopted.

“The Government plans to exempt or reduce visa fees for visitors from top feeder markets, support promotion programs in major markets, and remove bottlenecks for Da Nang’s tourism,” he said.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Tourism Department, said her agency has proposed free entry to some tourist spots. There will also be new air routes linking Da Nang with Laos, Russia, and India in the near future, she added.
