(VOVworld) – At least 14 people were killed and some 80 people injured in two bombings in a Christian neighbourhood in Lahore, eastern Pakistan. The Taliban has confirmed its responsibility for the bombings.

The bombers targeted Christians as they were attending Sunday morning mass.

The bomb blasts targeted worshippers attending Sunday mass at the churches in the Youhanabad area. Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the attack and ordered local authorities to tighten security. The bombings have sparked protests among Pakistani Christians, hundreds of whom took to the streets in protest and attacked the police. 4 policemen have died, 2 in the bombing and 2 during the demonstrations.
