The chief prosecutor in Hosni Mubarak’s trial demanded a death sentence on Thursday for the ousted Egyptian President, arguing that Mubarak ordered the killings of anti-regime demonstrators early last year. Mustafa Suleiman told the court that the former President was informed of the murders of the demonstrators but did not intervene to stop the violence. Interior minister Habib al-Adly and six senior police officers face related charges ranging from corruption to involvement in the deaths of around 850 protesters during the uprising that ended Mubarak’s three decades in power. The trial will resume on Monday.
