The earthquake caused widespread destruction not only across Myanmar but also impacted neighboring countries including Bangladesh, India, Laos, China, and Thailand.
Key infrastructure in Myanmar, such as underground oil pipelines and power systems, suffered severe damage. The Myanmar government has urgently implemented emergency measures, including receiving oil tankers to mitigate fuel shortages.
International rescue teams continue to search for survivors beneath the rubble. However, recovery efforts have been slowed by adverse weather conditions and challenges posed by the country’s ongoing internal conflict.
Global support for Myanmar has been growing. The United Kingdom has pledged an additional 6.5 million USD in humanitarian aid, raising its total contribution to 19.5 million USD. Meanwhile, the World Food Programme (WFP) has already delivered food assistance to 24,000 people and aims to reach up to 850,000 in the coming month.
