(VOVworld) - The Deputy Minister of Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, welcomed Michael Michalak, the former United States Ambassador to Vietnam in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Both sides agreed that 2015 is an important milestone from which the two countries would continue the trust-building process towards a better future relationship, as the two countries celebrate the 20^th anniversary of normalized diplomatic relations. They hailed the growing comprehensive partnership between the two countries, especially defense cooperation and expressed a wish to work together to implement the Memorandum on Bilateral Defense Cooperation signed in 2011. They also discussed other cooperative activities to address the aftermaths of their war.
