(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung chaired an online meeting of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the National Committee for Search and Rescue in Hanoi on Friday.

The meeting was intended to draw lessons from flood combat in central and central highland regions. Participants stressed the need to mobilize forces to repair essential facilities and to help the people resume their normal lives as soon as possible. Major-general Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Head of the Rescue Department at the Ministry of Defense, said: “We need to raise the people’s awareness of natural disasters and preventive measures to minimize possible losses. We also need to improve our forecast capacity and build environmental monitoring stations which can measure rainfall and the water levels of rivers in the central and central highland regions.”
