The Hwasong-14 missile reached an altitude of more than 2,800 km and hit its target precisely after flying for 39 minutes, according to a newsreader on state North Korean television. South Korean president Moon Jae-in has strongly condemned the North’s latest missile launch, adding that the South will not forgive such a provocation. He also asked the UN Security Council to apply sanctions against North Korea.

US President Donald Trump criticized Kim Jong-un for the test and suggested China take action against North Korea.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said leaders of the US, China, Japan and South Korea are expected to discuss efforts to rein in the North's nuclear missile tests during the G20 Summit in Germany later this week.
