At a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Brussels, Mr Juncker criticized the slow pace of progress in talks over Greece's debt, since last month's interim deal and said that he was not satisfied with what Egypt and Eurogroup have done, saying that both sides did not try their best in recent talks. President Jean-Claude Juncker called on the EU to unite. President Tsipras needs EU support for reforms to unlock vital funds, avoid possible bankruptcy and a eurozone exit. He said that Greece negotiated a four-month extension to its bailout last month after tense talks with creditors.
In another development, Greece's newly-elected president Prokopis Pavlopoulos has sworn in at a ceremony in the country's parliament for the five year Presidential term. The new president pledged to fight against poverty and unemployment in Greece. Nominated by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras last month, 64-year-old Pavlopoulos was elected Greek President on February 18.
