(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly deputies on Wednesday proposed reserving the highest priority of financial resources for the North-South high-speed railway project.

At the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly, the deputies discussed in groups the investment policy for the high-speed railway project worth 67 billion USD. The construction of the 1,540 km railway is scheduled to start in 2027 and the project is planned to be put into operation in 2035.
Tran Hoang Ngan, deputy representing Ho Chi Minh City, said, “We must study and purchase high-speed railway technology. Domestic enterprises can partner with international contractors to carry out the project and use the materials and technology that Vietnamese enterprises are able to supply.”
Also on Wednesday, the National Assembly ratified a resolution on budget allocation for 2025 and discussed the investment policy for the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030.
