Former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak is seen behind bars during a trial in the capital Cairo.
(VOVworld)- The Appeals Court for Urgent Matters in Cairo Monday overturned a previous verdict banning senior members of former president Hosni Mubarak's National Democratic Party (NDP) from running for presidential and parliamentary elections. The ruling permits leaders of NDP party which has been dispersed and expropriated since 2011 to come back to Egypt’s political scene. The court which presided by judge Mohamed Ayoub said the attached documents did not prove corruption of the party members, so the court decided to lift the ban. Members and leaders of NDP now can participate in the coming presidential election in Egypt. In May, the Cairo Court issued a verdict to ban NDP officials from running for presidential, parliamentary, and provincial elections. The NDP was dissolved and all its assets were confiscated in April 2011 after former President Mubarak was toppled.
