Egyptian army steps up crackdown on Muslim extremists

(VOVworld)- According to the official Egyptian news agency MENA, Egypt’s security forces on Thursday conducted a raid on a town of Muslim extremists in Cairo suburb. The Egyptian Ministry of the Interior said that Nabil Farrag, leader of Giza’s security forces, was shot during a conflict between Muslim gunmen and security forces chasing Muslim extremists. Hani Abdel Latif, spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior, said Egyptian security forces will only stop the campaign in Kardassah once all the criminals and terrorists there have been arrested. An unnamed security official said the police arrested 65 people in this raid. In another development, the Egyptian government said it will shorten the curfew time 2 hours in Cairo and 13 other provinces starting tomorrow. The curfew time will be from midnight until 5am.
