Egypt’s elections enter second day

(VOVworld) - Egyptians are to go to the polls for a second and final day of voting to select between Islamist candidate Mohammed Mursi and former Mubarak official Ahmed Shafiq to be their first president. The first voting day of the second round took place in peace on Saturday and the vote counting will begin Monday with primary results expected to come on June 21st. The army will hand over power to the new President on June 30th. The vote comes amid a bitter row over the dissolution of parliament following a court ruling on Thursday. Mr Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood has denounced the step as unlawful and a coup against democracy. The movement urged Egyptians to protect their revolution after the ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (Scaf) declared the parliament null and void on Saturday.
