(VOVworld) – A lack of knowhow and expenditure for production is the main cause of high poverty rate among ethnic minorities in mountain areas, said Giang Seo Phu, Minister and Chairman of the Government Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs on Sunday TV program “People ask, minister answers”.
He added that in order to tackle the problems, local social banks have provided detailed guidelines regarding the procedures and criteria needed to access production loans: "We were assigned by the Prime Minister to cooperate with relevant ministries and agencies to thoroughly review policies targeting ethnic minorities. Local authorities are urged to appropriately allocate farm land, while promoting vocational training to help local people find suitable jobs in addition to farm work to increase their incomes."
