He said Turkey will increase military actions against organizations in northern Iraq which Ankara considers terrorists. The statement came one week after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Ankara and the Iraq government may start a joint military campaign against the Kurdish forces after the Iraqi elections scheduled for May. Cavusoglu said Turkish forces are conducting a military campaign against Kurds in Syria who might be moved to northern Iraq.
The Turkish army is carrying out Operation Olive Branch against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria. The Turkish air force is conducting airstrikes against fighters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) along Iraq’s border with Turkey.
