At a policy forum in Hanoi on Friday, Christopher Nguyen, CEO and founder of US-based Aitomatic, said he believes Vietnam is facing a once-in-4,000-years opportunity in AI and semiconductor development, and could become a global hub in these industries.
"Vietnam, another element is that really in the past you’ve seen a transformation in terms of the policy leadership. It’s really the remark by the General Secretary that what happens is Vietnam used to essentially ban what it can not manage, but it is reversing, in other words, becoming much more permissive," said Nguyen.
"Essentially the final perspective here is that Vietnam can be a big bridge builder. This whole event here, the conference, is really about connecting two ecosystems. An ecosystem of builders and researchers and leading-edge professionals in the global economy," he added.
Michael Kagan, Chief Technology Officer of NVIDIA, said the tech giant is actively implementing projects in Vietnam, such as opening a representative office in Hanoi, training human resources, building an AI factory, and cooperating to make Vietnam an important link in the global semiconductor and artificial intelligence supply chain.
"The ambitions of Vietnamese government are particularly aligned with the national strategy on the AI development in this decade. We are here to help realize this vision. And we will help you to develop the AI. And we will help you to develop the ecosystem, which is the key for moving forward with the AI. Vietnam’s asset in this innovation is actually evidenced by an impressive jump in Oxford insight raking, which is a direct result of this forward-looking policy of the government," said Kagan.
