(VOVworld) – Tran Temple’s seal opening ceremony opened in the northern province of Nam Dinh on Thursday or the 14th of the first lunar month.
The ceremony was the re-enactment of a custom dating back to the Tran dynasty from 1225 to 1400, when mandarins took out their seals after the Tet holiday, resuming administrative activities, including rewarding and conferring titles.
The event started on the night of Thursday until dawn of Friday. The seal was carried from Co Trach temple, which is dedicated to Tran Hung Dao, the Supreme Commander of Vietnam during the Tran Dynasty, to the Thien Truong temple, where 14 kings of the Tran Dynasty are worshipped.
It has become a tradition for Vietnamese people to head to the temple to get replica seals in the hope for good luck and happiness. More than 2,000 security personnel have been mobilized to ensure the festival’s order and security.
